Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed from Instagram over vaccine posts
Instagram permanently removed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s personal account in February 2021 for repeated claims about vaccine safety. His Children's Health Defense organization was later removed from Facebook and Instagram in August 2022.
On February 10, 2021, Meta permanently removed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Instagram account, then followed with the removal of Children's Health Defense accounts from Facebook and Instagram on August 18, 2022. Meta cited repeated COVID-19 and vaccine misinformation violations. Kennedy's Instagram account was restored in June 2023 after he declared a presidential candidacy. Children's Health Defense filed suit against Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, and fact-checking partners in 2020 (CHD v. Meta), alleging First Amendment violations via state action; the Ninth Circuit affirmed dismissal in 2024 but the underlying deplatforming record is documented in the pleadings.
